The Oceanology International Exhibition, (www.oi06.com) is the largest marine technology and ocean science gathering in the world. D & A Instrument Company exhibited from Stand 1310 at the eighteenth Oi show held at the London ExCel Centre. Oi06 attracted more than 400 industry exhibitors, 17 research vessels, and a broad spectrum of technical presenters from the oceanographic, defense-industry, and marine pollution sectors in 2006. D & A unveiled three new products at Oi06, the OBS Buoy, the OBS-5+ optical monitor for high sediment concentration, and the OBS-3+ turbidity sensor. more >>

In Action In Asia 2006

John Downing spent two weeks in Asia in February 2006 conducting training on the application, operation, and calibration of the OBS-3+, OBS-3A, and OBS-5+ suspended-sediment monitoring instruments. He assists several Asian countries in the conversion of their manual river sediment monitoring equipment to automated electronic sensing systems. The D & A training course includes a classroom day where optical and acoustic methods for estimating suspended sediment are introduced and the coordination of their use with direct water-sampling devices is explained. Event-triggered measurement systems, efficient sampling techniques, and basic laboratory procedures are also covered. more >>
